I eat here a lot. It’s pretty great. The Victoria lemonade is always a hit. Depending on who’s making it, the sandwich can be a miss, but most of the time it’s a hit. I usually check the scene for my favorite cooks before I order.
Please check it out. You won’t regret it. Just make sure everything is correct before you leave.

My husband and I went around 10ish on Tuesday morning. This is such a cute space. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The young lady who took our order was very friendly and offered suggestions. We ordered the infamous short rib grilled cheese sandwiches and hash browns and I will say they were delicious! A man I am assuming was the owner came in shortly after we had a seat and immediately began checking on all the customers. We were also informed they have live music on Saturdays. We will definitely be back. We had a beautiful experience, the atmosphere, the food, the drinks excellent.

My partner and I just found this new spot, and I've been there almost every other day. Their lattes, especially the caramel ones, are so good! I also tried the pumpkin one; it was super smooth, perfectly sweet without overpowering the coffee taste.
And the food, oh Wow the Big Ole Burrito is amazing! You could totally share it if there are two of you. This place is awesome, it's got a patio, a dog park, and even parking. I just love the chill vibe!
Well done, Afro Joes!

Afro Joe’s is a gem with great customer service, chill vibe and live music on Saturdays. Can take a minute to get food and drinks, but food and drinks are prepared with care. Employees are constant walking around cleaning to ensure a tidiness. The owner checks on his patrons consistently. A classy, black owned small business that’s doing it the right way. Go Afro Joe’s. ✊🏽

Afro Joe’s is such a great community hub. The staff are welcoming, engaging, and remember their customers. The food is absolutely delicious and there’s a large variety of options, all well-priced and with good portions. It’s not the best option for a quick coffee and bite when you’re in a rush, but if you have want to have take a break with a pleasant coffee or snack this is one of the best options out there!

Food is amazing! First time I came in and it was busy. Took a little long for the food but understandable because they are very busy. Worth the wait because the food is delicious. As a Latina girl the bit of spice added on the bacon egg and cheese sandwich is S tier.
Per my bf on his big ol burrito "Breakfast Burrito was smacking I would pay $16 all day every day for that burrito."

Pull up here was impressed with the vibe and layout of this place. Customer service was super attentive and patient as I ordered. I went with the Englewood Sandwich, which was turkey, provolone, tomato, chipotle mayo, bacon, spring mix lettuce, and avocado on sourdough, grilled panini style. Ngl this was rather mid, maybe if it had more meat or chipotle sauce it could have been better. 7.4. Had the Victoria Lemonade, which is infused with Strawberry and Lavender syrups. This boy right here was pressure fr 9.5...it was refreshing, with the right amount of sweetness too. Lastly, got the almond crossaint, and maybe it was late in the day, cuz this wasn't that fresh to me 7.9. I did get the last one, so I'll come back again to see if it was an off day. But the vibe was there, nice open seating plus a patio to get some nice warm air while you eat. The music a nice and chill, so overall I was too mad at this little spot 8.5.

First time at Afro Joe’s and honestly, I wish I’d come sooner. I grabbed a chocolate croissant and a hot chocolate—nothing fancy, but together they were kind of perfect. The croissant was golden and flaky, with a layer of chocolate on top, soft and buttery inside. Fresh enough that little flakes ended up all over me, but totally worth it.
The hot chocolate deserves a shoutout. Rich, creamy, real chocolate flavor, none of that watered-down stuff. Super smooth, velvety, and it stayed warm the whole time. Dipping pieces of croissant into it made the morning feel extra cozy.
The staff was friendly, the vibe was chill, and I didn’t wait long. You can tell they care, even in something as simple as a croissant and hot chocolate. I’m definitely coming back, probably for a breakfast sandwich or an espresso next time.

A fantastic way to wrap up an amazing weekend in Chicago filled with culinary adventures! From Ethiopian to Jamaican to soul food, and now finishing at Afro Joe’s, every meal has been a delight. I had the short rib sandwich on sour dough bread, which is a twist on the classic Rueben. Highly recommend!
